Eng100 03/28/17 Game Night Saturday morning roughly around 8am , waking up to the smell of turkey bacon in the air. My eye fighting to stay close but if this was a school day the shoe would of been on the other foot. Guess as a lil boy it's just natural to get up early on Saturday. As my eyes opening my first seen was towards the television. My favorite cartoon was on dragon ball z. I was tempted to watch the episode but knowing my big brother was up from all the sound he made running down the stair. I know its was matter of time my share of bacon was going to be gone. Around this time my cousin was staying with us. Him and his dad had disagree so my mom let him stay with us. She was big on family and sticking together. We all sitting at the wooden round table. Passing the half of gallon orange juice. Mom did her thing in the kitchen. She made her famous blueberry pancake , turkey bacon , cheese eggs , and cheese grits with extra butler and shrimps.. We had some small conversations between each bite of food. My brother was the first one asking for seconding like always. Surprisingly my brother Jahbar wasn’t fat but he can eat you out of a home. Jahbar and I had the same mom and dad. We was four years apart. A lot of people said we look like. I never saw it until later when i got older. Jahbar had long black curly hair. Most of the time his hair was braid back like Allen Iverson. He was pretty tall for his age. A lot of my mom's friends call him Rick Fox. At that time I did not know who he was. My mom always the last one to sit down and enjoy her cooking. Always wondering did she love her meal as much we do. Everyone will get seconding but her. My older cousin T Bone was the first to get done and clean off his plate. We barely spend time with him because his work schedule. I assume he was saving up to get his own apartment. Today was his day off on both jobs and today was game night. After breakfast mom reminded me its was my turn to pick the game. She know I never forget when it's my turn. I pick the same game every chance I get. Monopoly was mine game. I was the best if you ask me. As a young boy I always was fascinating with money. How paper can change your life for the better or worst. On the other hand if it's my turn to pick the game than I had to wash the dishes. I did not mind washing the plate , cups and the eating utensils. I dislike the pots and pans especially with the cheese grits. Its was a pain in the but getting the grits. Finally done with the dishes and my t- shirt soaking wet. Sound like nobody in the bathroom perfect time to get my day started. I know i had to move quickly because any moment I can miss my opening. Flying up the steps , drove in the bathroom with a sigh of relief. To see Jahbar using the toilet. “Get out of the bathroom dirty” said Jahbar. “You smell like a zoo keeper” I respond quickly. “Mooom” he scream. Bang! For the door I just slammed. Still go this wet t-shirt on so i walk to my bedroom. Throw the shirt in the closet lay down in the bed. Laying there looking at the ceilings fan feeling i was going in the dimension. Don't remember exactly what I was thinking but I know i was at peace. “Boy get your lazy butt up” said mom. “Im up, waiting for Jahbar to get out the bathroom” I said. “He been outside playing football for less 30mins now” mom said. I must really went to sleep and I did not even know. “Get up and clean this room before you get in the shower. You hear me?” she ask. “Yes mom” I said in the best way. While I’m picking up three weeks old socks and whatever else on my floor. Wondering why she always ask do we hear me. I’m not deaf. I was fast at cleaning my room or making it like clean. I didn't know the difference between the two. Game night with the family was a joyful moment. Night that nothing matter but being with your family. I don't know where the tradition started from but i know i did not never wanna it to end. The celling light was on just enough to see what's going on. Never know who up to no good on game night. Everybody wanna to win but only one can. The fan was blowing on low speed do not need the money blowing away. Mom was the banker, she was the only one we can trust. The game always was slow in the begin. At the right time everybody would had a spark to life. At this time i wish we had a camera to hold on to the moment forever. Wish I can tell my mom grandkids about the queen who lights my day and night. Hear my brother tell them stories about how we grew up. Now i see its wasn’t about who win or lose. I can see the bigger picture mom just wanna the family together. You don’t know when it's your last day waking up to your family turkey bacon smell. Assignment page Hiraeth Narrative
